Technically, you can run your caravan fridge on gas while driving, but it’s not recommended. Safety is the main concern here. If there’s an accident, a gas leak could lead to a fire or explosion.

It’s generally safer to use your fridge’s 12V option while on the move. Most modern caravan fridges are designed to maintain a cool temperature on 12V while you’re driving and then switch to gas or 240V when parked. Always prioritize safety!

From a technical perspective, it’s possible to run your fridge on gas while driving, but it’s definitely risky. The gas flame could blow out due to wind, and you wouldn’t even realize it. If the gas keeps flowing, it creates a hazard.

Consider investing in a dual-battery system with an inverter. This setup allows you to run your fridge on electricity while driving. It’s safer and more reliable in the long run.

I’m new to caravanning, and I was wondering the same thing. After doing some research, it seems like running the fridge on gas while driving is not advised. Some people do it, but the risks seem high.

I decided to use the 12V setting while driving. It’s been working fine for me, and I feel safer knowing that I’m not risking a gas leak or fire.

I’ve been caravanning for over 30 years, and back in the day, running the fridge on gas while driving was quite common. However, times have changed, and so have safety standards.

Nowadays, I always switch to 12V while driving. It’s not worth the risk. Make sure your fridge is level when parked and switch to gas if needed. Better to follow current safety guidelines.

As an alternative approach, have you considered solar power? A well-sized solar setup can keep your fridge running without the need for gas or 12V from your vehicle. It’s environmentally friendly and can save you money in the long run.

I installed solar panels on my caravan, and they work great. Even on cloudy days, there’s usually enough power to keep the fridge cool.
